Francesca Pia Vitale at the Sobrio Festival

On Saturday 20 June 2026, the soprano Francesca Pia Vitale gave a recital in the Chiesa di San Lorenzo in Sobrio, accompanied at the piano by Roberto Arosio. The concert formed part of the Sobrio Festival, held each summer at Il Villaggio della Musica – an initiative the Zampa Foundation is proud to support.

Vitale is widely regarded as one of the finest talents to have emerged in recent years from the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala. She has appeared on many of Europe’s leading stages, including the Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Opéra Bastille and enjoys a close relationship with La Scala, where she sang Gilda in Rigoletto in 2025. She was joined by Roberto Arosio, a Milan-trained pianist who has performed worldwide and serves as Maestro Accompagnatore at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana.

The programme gathered some of the best-loved soprano arias in the repertoire. It ranged from Juliette’s waltz ‘Je veux vivre’ (Gounod) and Doretta’s dream from Puccini’s La Rondine to Massenet’s Manon, Charpentier’s ‘Depuis le jour’ and a spellbinding close in Violetta’s ‘Sempre libera’. The proceeds of the concert were donated in full to Il Villaggio della Musica.

Conceived in 2012 by the pianist Mauro Harsch and coordinated by the Ars Dei association, Il Villaggio della Musica is set in the village of Sobrio and comprises some fifty houses, each named after a great composer. From mid-June to late October it stages the Sobrio Festival, which presents gifted young musicians alongside established artists and, since 2019, has hosted the international Premio ‘E. Tschaikowsky’ piano competition. A small but distinctive cultural hub halfway between Milan and Zurich, Sobrio has drawn performers from ensembles including the Berliner Philharmoniker and the orchestra of La Scala.

The Zampa Foundation is delighted to count itself among the festival’s supporters.
