Fifty years later: a literary competition on lived and inherited memory of the 1976 Friuli earthquake

In partnership with La Vita Cattolica, a historic weekly newspaper from Friuli, the Zampa Foundation launched ‘1976. Racconti per ricordare’, a literary competition to preserve the memory of the devastating earthquake that, fifty years ago, forever changed the lives of countless families in Friuli. The competition was designed to celebrate the enduring power of collective memory, the invisible thread that binds generations of Friulians together and, one story at a time, has woven the fabric of Friulian history and identity.

The winners, Liam, Vittoria, Domitilla and Alessandro, were announced and presented with their prizes on Wednesday 3 June at Udine Cathedral, as part of a ceremony organised to celebrate the centenary of La Vita Cattolica.
